The John T. Fields & Associates Fight Against Domestic Violence Scholarship

April 11, 2024 - October 14, 2024

1 award of:

$2,000

Scholarship description

We understand the ways that domestic violence can impact victims, and we know how difficult it can be for a person to leave an abusive situation, seek help, and meet the ongoing needs of themselves and their children while maintaining protection against further abuse or harassment. Because of this, we work to provide opportunities for people who have been affected by domestic violence or who are looking to limit the impact of domestic violence on families in the United States.

With the John T. Fields & Associates, LLC Fight Against Domestic Violence Scholarship, we provide financial assistance to college students, helping them achieve their goals and take steps to better our society. Each semester, we offer a $2,000 scholarship to a college student who has been impacted by domestic violence in their life or who has a substantial interest in implementing solutions to these issues and protecting others against domestic abuse, harassment, and other forms of family violence.

I discovered the The John T. Fields & Associates Scholarship during my semiannual scholarship browsing—a custom born out of family struggles for money. Furthermore, coming from a household below the poverty line where money has always been a source of anxiety, receiving this award was incredibly freeing. Amongst juggling two jobs, maintaining a 4.0 GPA, pursuing published research, extracurriculars, and personal stress, I’ve often felt the weight of financial uncertainty pressing against my aspirations. Winning was not only a recognition of my hard work and resilience but also a profound relief. It symbolized a step closer to fully breaking the cycle of struggle that has defined much of my life. Everyone needs someone on their journey through domestic violence, abuse, and more broadly legal turmoil. I had my mom and my siblings; I hope to be that person for others who have no one else. In essence, I am resolved to study law to be an advocate for others (in a currently unknown capacity).
